Before you rejet or do the "white-spacerectomy", try adjusting the air mixture screw. You may not need to rejet, although it is highly recomended by some folks in these here parts. You mentioned that you were running a "gutted" stock muffler, did you modify the stock air box, or use filter foam for an air filter? Or, were/are you still using the stock paper-type air filter? This will have much to do with how the bike runs now compared to how it ran before, but you gotta tell me more before I can give you an answer. Where do you live? High altitudes, low altitudes, swamp land? These factors all play a part in how well/poorly these machines run.
